Adding an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server address for outgoing email

An SMTP server can be added as an alternative method to the default php mail function. If you are hosting Acorn Aid on a localhost or intranet you may not have php mail enabled and therefore will want to use an SMTP server.

Adding an SMTP server

  1. Log into your admin interface e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/acornaid/admin/
  2. Click on the Menu icon in the top right hand corner of the screen
  3. Go to Settings > Outbound Email
  4. Select SMTP Server
  5. Enter your SMTP server settings. Example below.

    SMTP Server Address - smtp.yourdomain.com
SMTP Authenticate - True / False
    SMTP User - you@yourdomain.com
    SMTP Password - password
    Encryption - TLS / SSL
    SMTP Port - 465

  6. Click Submit

Test your outbound email settings by submitting and sending updates to tickets.
